5th grade science wrapped up their unit on Structures and Properties of Matter by reading Pancakes Pancakes by Eric Carle and sorting physical/chemical changes that took place in the book. Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Moreland cooked pancakes accompanied by a serving of syrup so their students could see the process of a chemical change as the pancake batter took in heat, changed odor, changed color, and changed substance! Students truly thought their science teachers were gourmet chefs! LOL 👩‍🍳😂 #cardstudentsareworthit #ESED

Mrs. Chase and Mrs. Burgess’ 4th grade classes are working on understanding sound. Today we learned that sound needs a medium to travel. Students represented speakers, air blobs, and a windshield. The goal was to get the vibration to the windshield. We also discussed sound in space (where there is no air), could we still hear sound without air? #cardstudentsareworthit #ESED

After revising our social contract in Project Lead the Way at FMS, students were challenged to work collaboratively as a team to design and build the tallest freestanding structure from 3 pieces of paper and 70 cm of tape. The structure had to stay standing for a minimum of 20 seconds with light windy conditions. Our tallest tower was 37 inches from Mrs. Fry's homeroom with a close second 36 inches from Mrs. M. Miller's homeroom. #cardstudentsareworthit #ESED
