The Farmington School District and our surrounding community suffered a great loss this week with the passing of Mr. Roy Hummel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Mr. Hummel was the agricultural teacher and FFA sponsor at Farmington schools for 25 years. He also served as the poultry superintendent and on the board of directors at the Washington County Fair and on the Farmington City Council. After retiring as a teacher, he served on the Farmington School Board and later came back out of retirement to establish and run the district's Alternate Learning Environment. Mr. Hummel had a gift for connecting with students on a personal level and making a positive impact on their lives. He was a hard worker that dedicated his life to serving our district and community. Words cannot express the gratitude Farmington School District has for Mr. Hummel and the loyalty, dedication and love he showed to our district. He will be missed by the staff and the students whose lives he touched.
