Farmington Public Schools is celebrating another year of exceptional academic achievement as students participating in the district's BookNook High-Impact Tutoring Program demonstrated remarkable gains in both reading and mathematics during the 2025-2026 school year.
Building on the success of its first year with BookNook, Farmington expanded the program to serve 141 students in grades 2-6, providing targeted reading intervention for elementary students and math support for middle school learners. The expansion reflects the district's ongoing commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed academically.
The results have been nothing short of extraordinary.
Among second- and third-grade students participating in the reading program, 98% demonstrated measurable growth between the beginning and end of the school year. Even more impressive, average Lexile reading scores increased from 228L to 597L, representing significant progress in foundational literacy skills. Of the 84 students with valid beginning- and end-of-year assessments, 82 students improved their reading performance.
The district also expanded BookNook's impact into mathematics for students in grades 4-6. Those students continued Farmington's momentum by posting an average gain of 179 Quantile points on the ATLAS Math assessment. Ninety percent of participating students showed measurable academic growth, with average Quantile scores increasing from 372Q to 551Q. Fifty-one of the 57 students with valid assessment data demonstrated improvement.

"BookNook's high-impact tutoring model has helped us turn that goal into action by providing targeted, data-driven support that accelerates learning, builds confidence, and delivers measurable growth for students across our district."
District leaders attribute the program's success to several key factors, including consistent student participation, strategic implementation, and a collaborative partnership with BookNook that focused on continuous improvement. After seeing strong results during the program's initial implementation, Farmington expanded the initiative to reach more students while maintaining the personalized, small-group instruction that has become a hallmark of the program.
Instructional Facilitator Tammie Bullock emphasized that the program's impact extends well beyond academic scores.
"BookNook allowed us to deliver student support services at scale without losing that vital, one-to-one connection," Bullock said. "Our students didn't just close academic gaps outside the core classroom—they built meaningful relationships and truly grew as learners."
The program provided tutoring during the regular school day, allowing students to receive targeted instruction without disrupting their overall educational experience. By focusing on small-group interventions tailored to individual students' needs, Farmington has continued to strengthen foundational skills while building students' confidence.
The continued success of the BookNook partnership reinforces Farmington Public Schools' commitment to innovative instructional practices that produce measurable results.
